For only 2 minutes of your time, your vote for our MyLA2050 Grant Challenge submission can earn DSTL Arts a $100,000 grant from the Goldhirsh Foundation! Our submission answers the question: How would you use $100K to make LA the best place to create? For us, the answer is simple: We will use $100,000 to establish a permanent home for The Partnership for Los Angeles’ Creative Education, our coalition of nonprofits led by DSTL Arts, Trade School Los Angeles, and Emerging Arts Leaders/Los Angeles. Voting opened Tuesday, October 20th at noon, and closes on November 3rd, 2015, at noon. Voting and registering is free, and only requires either a Facebook account or email address.
The purpose of The Partnership for Los Angeles’ Creative Education (The PLACE) is to provide a pipeline of mentorship and education to emerging and seasoned professionals in the arts, ages 16 to 116. Through mentorship programs for youth and adults, skill-sharing workshops, and professional development opportunities for emerging arts professionals, The PLACE is uniquely poised to change the way the arts educate and build diverse communities in Los Angeles.
We at DSTL Arts, Trade School Los Angeles and Emerging Arts Leaders/Los Angeles, are streamlining our programs and pooling our resources to support one another’s respective missions through The Partnership for Los Angeles’ Creative Education. We provide mentorships in the arts to creative, at-risk youth ages 16–21, while Emerging Arts Leaders/Los Angeles provides mentorships to post-graduate, emerging leaders in the arts. As youth graduate from our programs, they will have the opportunity to continue their mentorship experience with the help of Emerging Arts Leaders/Los Angeles. And throughout all participants’ involvement with our programs, they will have the opportunity to learn and share new skills through Trade School Los Angeles’ unique brand of barter-based workshops. Add in other innovative programs from DSTL Arts, Emerging Arts Leaders/Los Angeles, and Trade School Los Angeles, including a co-working space for creative professionals, and The PLACE will be a hub for learning, professional development, and skill-sharing for all communities of Los Angeles.
As a project of DSTL Arts, all donations made to The PLACE will be fully tax-deductible. To learn more about the individual partners of The PLACE, feel free to visit our individual program websites below.
